President Trump celebrated a GOP intelligence report that showed “no collusion” with Russia by issuing a rare all-caps tweet on Monday night.
The draft report from the House Intelligence Committee followed a yearlong investigation by the Republican members who did not share the details with their Democratic colleagues.
“THE HOUSE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE HAS, AFTER A 14 MONTH LONG IN-DEPTH INVESTIGATION, FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF COLLUSION OR COORDINATION BETWEEN THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN AND RUSSIA TO INFLUENCE THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION,” Trump tweeted.
The GOP report also asserted that Russia didn’t side with Trump in its interference with the 2016 election — which is at odds with US intelligence agencies.
The report was slammed by Democrats as a partisan gift to the president.
Rep. Adam B. Schiff (Calif.), the top Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, called the report a “tragic milestone” and a “capitulation to the executive branch” in a statement on Monday.
The public will not see the report until Democrats have reviewed it and the intelligence community has decided what information can become public. That could take weeks.
