Nearly a dozen vehicles were involved in a crash on a bridge over the Des Plaines River in Joliet Tuesday evening, fire officials said.
Officials said 11 vehicles were involved in an incident that occurred on McDonough St. Bridge about 8 p.m.
According to the fire department, there were seven “patients” after the accident but did not elaborate on their conditions or which hospitals they might have been taken to. Multiple ambulances and fire engines were dispatched to the scene.
Authorities were urging people to avoid the area if possible.
