The bar customer talked of killing people with his cane. That’s when the manager stepped in

A patron at a St. Augustine restaurant ended up arrested after getting into an alarming confrontation with a manager that had nothing to do with food.

Job Roden first raised flags when he walked in to 2 Creeks Bar & Grill in St. Augustine wearing a black robe and hat, reports News 4 Jax. He sat down at the bar, ready to order.

But it was a conversation he sparked last week with the night manager about a movie that prompted her to call 911. When deputies from the St. John’s Sheriff’s Office arrived, she reported that Roden told her he saw a film in which he witnessed a woman get raped.

He didn’t stop there. The manager told them that Roden told her he knew how to kill people with his cane and that he would cut off her husband’s private parts if he were there at the establishment.

The manager added that she felt “threatened,” “shaken,” and “uneasy,” according to a police report. A male witness corroborated her account.

Despite denying he made these disturbing comments, the 64-year-old Roden was arrested on a charge of simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor.

“He had the cane with him, helping him to walk so it wasn’t considered a weapon, and he didn’t use it,” Chuck Mulligan, spokesman for the St John County’s Sheriff’s Office, told the Miami Herald.

The report says the suspect denied making the comments and that he just came to the place to drink a beer. He told deputies he was in the process of ordering a second beer when the alleged incident took place.

“It was apparent while talking with Job, he did not have any care or respect for the issue at hand.”

The report adds that the suspect acted out while deputies attempted to take him to the St. John’s County Jail by not putting his legs into the patrol car. They were eventually successful in getting his legs into the car.
