French economy minister Emmanuel Macron last year opened up France’s laws restricting Sunday trading, making it possible for stores situated in so-called ‘international tourist zones’ to trade every Sunday of the year on condition that each retailer reaches agreements with staff representatives, and that employees who work on Sundays do so voluntarily.
